UPDS Fields a Quarterfinalist Adjudicator at Australs 2007
Jessica Hermosa | July 2007

In just 2 months time, Bernard Joseph Es. Guerrero garnered yet another adjudication achievement, this time as quarterfinalist adjudicator of the 2007 Australasians Inter-varisity Debating Championship in Malaysia. Winning one of the 20 contested breaking slots, Guerrero (IV-English Studies) beat out many other representatives from universities and colleges across Asia, Australia, and New Zealand.

Guerrero had just come back from adjudicating the Grand Finals at the Asian Universities Debating Championship in Indonesia when he bagged this fresh achievement for the UP Debate Society. At the 2007 Australs, he solo-chaired in 6 of the 8 preliminary rounds and was panelist to acclaimed adjudicators Robert Leeds and Tim Sonnreich.

The UP Debate Society also fielded one debate team composed of Alvin Camba (III-History), Jessica Hermosa (IV-Journalism), and Lester Yupingkun (III-Sports Science).

Next year's Australs will be held in the Ateneo de Manila University, with the UP Debate Society co-organizing the pre-Australs tournament.
