It’s official. The UP Debate Society (UPDS), together with various co-presenters, will be holding the first ever Philippine Inter-collegiate Debating Championships (PIDC) from April 13 to 16, 2007 at the Aquino Convention Center in Tarlac.
These details were among those that resulted from the MOA signing between UPDS and PIDC co-presenters Tarlac Conventions and Visitors Bureau (TCVB) and the North Philippines Visitors Bureau (NPVB) last month.
UPDS expects more than 200 participants to PIDC this year and has already begun accepting institutions’ reservations as part of the registration process. Carl Ng, a UPDS alumnus, has agreed to be the Chief Adjudicator for the tournament. Meanwhile, hotel accommodations for participants have been settled, and more preparations are underway.
PIDC 2007: The Ninoy Aquino Cup, with the theme Filipino Minds, Global Perspectives, was created to foster an arena for college and university students from all over the Philippines to critically discuss the most relevant national and international issues.With its Tarlac venue and its pool of reputable presenters, PIDC 2007 promises to be a wide-reaching and top-quality debate experience.
