UP Diliman’s 4-team contingent had three teams in the break and all four teams in the Top 21 of the 2nd Asian Universities Debating Championship (AUDC) this year. UPD-A (Nicolo Cabrera, Claudia Poon, Mark Lim), and UPD-D (Jonathan Yabut, Yang Villa, and Richard Heydarian) took it as far as the quarterfinals. UPD-C (Jessica Hermosa, Claire Jiao, Joan Caccam) made it to the octofinals. Richard Beltran, also of UPD, topped the adjudication exam and finished AUDC as a quarterfinalist adjudicator.
Ateneo won the 2nd Asian Universities Debating Championship (AUDC) this year, with two of their teams facing off during the finals round. ADMU-A (Sharmila Parmanand, Lisandro Claudio, Charisse Borromeo) won the championship against ADMU-B (Glenn Tuazon, Miko Biscocho, Mahar Mangahas) by a split decision of 5-4.
UPDS President Nicolo Cabrera reminded UPDS members to train harder and to continue to uphold the UPDS integrity in the upcoming tournaments, including AUDC 2007 in Indonesia.
“The only way to win is to win clearly. Anything less won't be good enough,” he said.
